The Origin of KeepStakes Memorial Plaques

About Us

The idea for KeepStakes tree plaques was born in 2005 when I was looking for an unusual gift idea for a family member. One of my friends had recently been given a small handmade tree plaque to mark her son's christening. The plaque was made of a wooden chopping board nailed to a stick and had a small rectangular engraved plaque glued to the front. I loved the concept and tried to buy an engraved tree plaque to give as a gift, but I could not find anything remotely like it on sale. The only option was to commission a tree plaque on a stake, but this was a hugely expensive process and well out of my budget.

I ended up hand making a tree plaque on this occasion and this was followed by a number of requests for me to make these gifts for other people. The KeepStakes idea grew quickly from these first plaques to the professionally designed and engraved product now available. Using the stakes as memorial tributes quickly became one of the most popular reasons for purchasing the product.

I initially chose the name "Tree from Me", but changed it to the more memorable "KeepStakes" in 2006. The brands Memorial KeepStakes, Baby KeepStakes and Wedding KeepStakes were launched in October 2006.

Thanks for visiting us and reading about the idea. I hope your like the stakes. This is still a very new business and I would love to hear your comments or suggestions.
